The working principle of a DC brushed motor is to use the action of electric brushes and commutators to make current flow in the armature winding, generate a magnetic field, and interact with the fixed magnetic field of the stator, thereby driving the motor to rotate. Specifically, a DC brushed motor consists of a stator, rotor, brushes, and commutator. The stator generates a fixed magnetic field, and the rotor (armature) is equipped with armature winding and commutator. The electric brush is connected to the external power source through the commutator. When the electrical energy of the DC power supply enters the armature winding through the brush and commutator, the armature winding generates a magnetic field, which interacts with the fixed magnetic field of the stator to generate electromagnetic torque, causing the motor to rotate and drive the load.
The advantages of DC brushed motors include fast starting, timely braking, smooth speed regulation over a large range, and relatively simple control circuits. However, due to the presence of electric brushes and commutators, brushed motors have a relatively complex structure, poor reliability, multiple faults, heavy maintenance workload, short lifespan, and are prone to electromagnetic interference caused by commutation sparks.
DC brushed motors are widely used in many applications, such as power tools, household appliances, automation equipment, etc. Due to its simple structure and low cost, DC brushed motors still have advantages in applications that require simple control and lower cost.
